Hello plant lovers!!
I have been away for a while but wanted to pop on and share a story about one of the best days of my life.
I am an amateur beginner Bryologist and am being taught about Bryophytes (mosses and liverworts) in the Scottish rainforest by a Botanist. He is very generous to invest his time in me and I am so lucky. A few weeks ago he took me along with him to survey a patch of rainforest that is owned by the community. We were in the thick of it, where no one goes, studying all the tiny plants in a ravine. Suddenly the wind went strange, and I felt my invisible woodland friends calling me from a rocky crag away from the river. I bucked up the courage to gently suggest that we have a look up there. The kind botanist humoured me, and we climbed. To his delight he found two rare species, one very rare, which have now been recorded and as a result, all invasive species will be removed from that area and it will be protected forever. It was just magical.
Sadly I can't get my photos to load on here. I will try again another day. Have some amazing ones of temperate rainforest lichens. In the meantime, there is a real treat on YouTube about fungi. If you Google "documentary, how fungi changed my life" you should find it. If you're interested its always worth learning about temperate rainforeststoo. They are far more endangered than tropical rainforests. I will attempt to load up some photos in future. Much love earthkings!! Ha ha meant to write earthlings!! X x
Thanks for pointing to the fungi video. What a delight to watch! I didn't stop at just this one. Wonder what Tolkien knew about Mushrooms.
